Interview with Joan Breibart
Through the magic of technology and teleconferencing I had the pleasure of sitting down recently with Joan Breibart, president and co-founder of the PhysicalMind Institute. We had met a few weeks earlier for the first time when she came to a Pilates Mat class I teach at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, FL. That was sort of intimidating—the president of the organization I had certified with showed up, unexpectedly, in my class. Although she didn’t say it when she came in, I knew who she was within a few minutes. As you might imagine I was a bit nervous! Joan was in Orlando for some R&R and to visit her friend and Diet Directives business associate, Meredith Luce. After class I introduced myself and we had a... Continue ...

The impact she has on other people’s lives motivates her and the energy she receives from teaching Pilates professionals recharges her. She found Pilates when looking to cross train while playing soccer. A physician helping her with back problems encouraged her to strengthen the muscles around the spine. Of course, Pilates was the answer that not only helped her back, but also changed her life. After being a participant in Pilates for six years, Alison found Peak Pilates and became an instructor herself. She trained under a physical therapist for three years to complete her comprehensive program. Since becoming... Continue ...

Interview with Erin Douglass of we Pilates
Be Balanced…Be Mindful…Be Beautiful… This was Erin Douglass’s first phrase created for her we pilates clothing line as she sat on a beach sketching designs dreaming of leaving her successful career in software sales to start her own apparel company. This is also a description of her outlook on life. She juggles her company, family, children, Pilates sessions, tradeshows and seems to love every bit of it. She won’t say it is easy, she says you just do it. She has found her passion and balances it with her lifestyle and family. Her love of fashion and design started a long time ago when she designed her own prom dress and tagged along with her father, who was in the business. Rather than follow the creative... Continue ...
