This collection of Pilates DVDs is the work of well known presenter and teacher trainer, Jennifer Kries. The series offers 5 DVDs; 4 of which address the different Pilates apparatus (Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, and Ladder Barrel) and the fifth which addresses Pilates mat work. Kries is a second generation instructor and teacher trainer and has studied with Romana Kryzanowska, Ron Fletcher and Eve Gentry. Lara Hudson is great in the 10 Minute Solution: Pilates on the Ball DVD. She speaks clearly, gives great cues and has great form. Her instruction is easy to watch and enjoyable to do. The 55 minute DVD is great for Pilates instructors and enthusiasts. I enjoyed doing the DVD with Lara and came away with many new ideas for myself and my clients. There are five 10 minute routines that you can do alone or link together: (1) Pilates for Abs (2) Lower Body Pilates (3) Upper Body Pilates (4) Total Body Pilates (5) Pilates for Flexibility. We had met a few weeks earlier for the first time when she came to a Pilates Mat class I teach at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, FL. Peak Pilates MVe Complete Workout System DVD’s

Peak Pilates has recently released several new DVD’s in their MVe collection. They are fusing fitness and Pilates in a variety of ways for a “Complete Workout System”. I recently enjoyed two of them and came away with some good ideas for my clients and classes. The MVe Definition Reformer DVD is a beginner workout on the reformer combining Pilates mat exercises, squats, lunges and handheld weights for upper body strength. The program has a nice pace, shows modifications and keeps you moving on and off the reformer for a good total body workout. Moira Merrithew brought in Michael Hunt, a golf instructor at the well renowned Jim McLean Golf School to help with a pre-round golf-specific warm-up and stretch segment as well as some golf drills that will help in muscular re-education for the golf swing. Tracey Mallett’s 3 in 1 Pregnancy System DVD

Tracey Mallett’s 3 in 1 Pregnancy System DVD is a nice combination of Pilates, Yoga, Sculpting and Stretching. It is a pleasant video to watch because of the mood, music and Tracey’s personality. She is in her third trimester and seems to be feeling great. She gives great modifications for the exercises while her partner does the exercises without the modifications. She makes great use of props including pillows, towels, a chair and weights. The program is very balanced and is divided into four sections with Upper Body, Core Conditioning, Lower Body and Stretching.
